(This itinerary has been amended as ANEK cancelled our ferry from Venice to Igoumenitsa. We therefore had to rebook the ferry the day before and spend a night at Meteora before arriving in Volos)
We have finalised our route to Skiathos for this year taking in a couple of new destinations and visiting some old favourites.
It's not the quickest of routes and certainly not the cheapest due to the extra mileage and toll charges through France.
Our route this year will be:
Hull - Rotterdam (Ferry)
Rotterdam - Frankfurt
Frankfurt - Zurich
Zurich - Annecy
Annecy - Lake Como (via Mont Blanc Tunnel)
Lake Como - Venice
Venice - Igoumenitsa (Ferry)
Igoumenitsa - Meteora
Meteora - Volos
Volos - Skiathos (Ferry)
Day 1
Overnight P&O Ferry from Hull (England) to Rotterdam (Netherlands). Leaves Hull at 8.30pm and arrives in Rotterdam at approximately 9.00am the following day.
Day 2
Rotterdam (Netherlands) to Frankfurt (Germany) (282 miles , 5hrs 13mins)
Day 3
Frankfurt (Germany) to Zurich (Switzerland) (265 miles , 4hrs 9mins)
Day 4
Zurich (Switzerland) to Annecy (France) (198 miles, 3hrs 22mins)
Day 5
Annecy (France) to Lake Como (Italy) (224 miles, 4hrs 22mins)
Day 6
Lake Como (Italy) to Venice (Italy) (189 miles, 2hrs 56mins)
Day 6 continued
Venice (Italy) to Igoumenitsa (Greece) (596 miles, 25hrs 30mins)
ANEK Ferries leave Venice at 13.00pm and arrives in Igoumenitsa around 15.30pm the following day.
Day 7
Igoumenitsa to Meteora (104 miles, 2hrs 14mins)
Day 8
Meteora to Volos (88 miles, 1hrs 52mins)
Day 9
Volos to Skiathos Ferry (50 miles, 2hrs 30mins)
